Noob question...... Can someone explain proxies.
I know this may be a simple question, but I would like some clarity about proxies. I know that there are proxy sites where you can do anonymous surfing, but is that all they are? I have seen lists of IP addresses and domain names. Are these just sites that help hide your IP address? I just want to make sure that there is no special program or trick that I am missing out on.
Also, when is the best time to use proxies?

I am not sure what you mean by what is the best time to use proxies can you better clarify?
As far as the lists of IP's/domains you are finding, those are the proxy addresses. You can use a program or browser to connect
to the IP's listed and then you will be surfing from that IP address. Many websites and such ban access from the more common
proxies, they become what is called blacklisted, and you will pop up as being on a known proxy. Depending on the site, this
may block access to that site, and/or cause accounts to be suspended or banned all together so be sure to read the TOS
on any site you decide to visit via Proxy.

Proxies can enable you to visit a site even if your country IP is being blocked by this site. You can simply appear to be in another country. Also with proxies you can bypass the download limits on file hosting sites, so you can download more for free, all the time, without waiting hours. And of course it's more anonymous than surfing without a proxy, but make no mistake, everything can be tracked, if someone really wants it and has enough resources. True anonymity does not exist on the net.
I recommend the TOR network if you need proxies. Best out there. Just read up on it at
