    Good place to hire freelancers?

I know some of the popular sites but I haven't really used any of them. Some friends of mine used oDesk but had a terrible experience on their first trial run and they vowed to never use it again. Anyway I was more interested in recruiting script coders for small jobs (for instance, writing a 20-40 line function).. I am a coder/programmer by trade, I just would rather focus on the grand architecture rather than the individual nuts and bolts.

Just curious if anyone has any recommendations, thanks.

oDesk is good. I'm on it as a contractor myself. I recommend it as it's really legit, free, easy to use and has loads of members.

Freelance.com and elance.com are both decent ones.

If you have a lot of piece work to be done (so small projects instead of really big ones), you might want to consider Mturk as well. Just make sure you set it up to have very specific requirements so you don't have to sift through people who don't really know what they're doing.

You can try Elance, Guru, or Freelancer. Odesk by far is the most trusted. Maybe our friend just hired an inefficient contractor. Hiring freelancers online, like any other ordeals, involves taking risks. You just have to be very careful in selecting a contractor who'll do the job for you.

There's seoclerks.com which is like fiverr. Saw some people who offer nice services there.

On some of the forums I've hung around for the longest time, there tends to be like minded people who don't mind cash for a little work on their part. I almost never need to outsource, but I try to get people I know already for it. So if you already are established in a forum, try some of your contacts. It can be much more profitable and reliable than luck-of-the-draw like you get at some sites.

Freelancer and odesk seems to be the most popular sites to get some works/jobs done. And there are fiverr, elancer and some other gig sites where there are task offered for certain amount and for certain period of time.

I have used odesk for a very long time. I find if you make your instructions crystal clear, as if you are talking to a small child, you can more or less get what you want. In fact I got some good results from it.

You can't go in and just expect awesome results if the task is not clearly laid out.
