Is it worth the time to go into dropshipping?
I am getting some emails from marketing gurus about drop shipping. I am wondering if this is a worthwhile investment of time. It does not require much money to start with but the lack of control on the availability of items is something that I am afraid of.

Besides when the products you are selling aren't really your and you get a complain or they want to return the item it might be a problem, depending on your dropshipper. If you can find a solid company there shouldn't be any problem, but that might be quite a challange. I at least haven't been able to find any decent company, so I gave up on dropshipping.

I can’t just abandon what’s there in front of me.
I want to protect everything I can.”

My only issue with dropshipping is the inherently bad service quality that follows. Shipping can take ages, and if they have problems with a product you could end up with a very costly mistake and lose customers to boot. If you're going to sell products you don't physically own, just try Amazon Affiliates. Amazon's at least a reputable company and handles things fairly well if a deal goes sour.

I've been investigating on Dropshipping, and so far, it seems like its too much work. As in, usually, you need money to invest. Then, you have the risks of being scammed, and not finding the right dropshippers. Next, you need the right niche to make sales, and be ahead of the competition. If you're up to that, and hard work, then you can try and go for dropshipping.

It's still profitable but it's pretty competitive on certain sites like Ebay. You're going to have pretty slim profit margins and a lot of work in order to compete with other established drop shippers.
